Antique, "1899 (1st Edition) GESCHICHTEN UND MARCHEN" - CLOTH HARDCOVER BOOK Written By LILLIAN FOSTER! She dedicated the book to: The Pupils of Adelphi Academy. Copyright 1896 By D. C. Heath & Co. Measures approx. 4 5/8" Wide x 6 3/4" Tall. It has a Total of 103 Pages.

The Preface Reads: "This little volume has been prepared as a first textbook for young pupils who have previously acquired through oral instruction a vocabulary of ordinary words and phrases. To insure intelligent and satisfactory recitations, exercises on the blackboard are invaluable. During a lesson, every word which is new to the pupils should be written on the board. It's pronunciation and its meaning should be made plain. If every member of the class be required to write such words and their definitions on slips of paper, each child will have made its own vocabulary when the end of the book has been reached. The slips can be preserved for future references. Experience has shown that children can much more readily learn to read a foreign language, if it is presented to them at first in a form with which they are familiar. The earlier part of this book has therefore been printed in Latin characters, while the German type has been used for the second part; but, if desired, copies of a special edition all in German type may be obtained."
